Cornish Sea Salt is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our facilities and equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and infrastructure to minimise downtime, optimise production, and uphold safety standards. This position is vital to the smooth functioning of our operations.
Working hours: This is a predominately a Monday to Friday role (42.5 hours per week), with shift patterns scheduled between 6am and 7pm. There is a weekend on-call rota, which includes a paid on-call retainer and call-out payments – this is in addition to the annual salary. This is a multi-site role based between the following two sites – Gweek, Helston and Pol Gwara, Porthkerris.
Key Responsibilities:
- Servicing, fault-finding and fixing day-to-day plant issues.
- Creating pro-active strategies to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our plant operations going forward. To include engagement with operators to drive autonomous working on lines. Supporting with updating / creating Standard Operating Procedures.
- Responding quickly to breakdown requests from production and dealing with emergencies and unplanned problems in a timely manner.
- Liaise with and arrange for external contractors as and when needed. Oversee Contractor Control on site.
- To assist with other general day to day maintenance duties onsite, in line with audit non-conformances, complying with BRC Site Standards. Including site fabrication audits.
- Compile KPIs to reflect weekly performance striving for pro-active initiatives.
- Planned Preventative Maintenance.
- Top Loss data- Root Cause Analysis.
- Corrective Maintenance.
- Risk Management / Life cycle cost analysis.
- Critical Spares.
- Business Continuity Planning.
Skills required:
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- A pro-active approach to the daily plant issues you come across.
- Sound knowledge of industrial mechanical maintenance with specific experience in electrical fault finding.
- Pumps and pneumatics as well plc being desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a small production team.
- Coaching / Mentoring peers to drive autonomous working.
- Recognised Engineering qualifications.
- Able to undertake flexible hours based on business needs as required.
- Ability to manage own time in line with company needs.
